The official 2008 Blondes vs Brunettes invitation is ready!

The time has finally come for me to show off my skills. Don’t let the term “powder puff” throw you… we mean business! I have said goodbye to manicures and manners (on the field) and have found my inner gridiron goddess. I have learned how to run and catch a football at the same time, pull flags with fury and even throw a few elbows when necessary. My cleats are all shined and I’m ready to rumble! Not that the game itself won’t be entertainment enough but just in case you want even MORE, we will also have a marching band at halftime along with some local celebrity announcers! There will be Budweiser beer and pompoms for proper cheering! Seriously, what else could you possibly want on a Saturday afternoon?

Who Knew?

So I found out something really interesting about myself yesterday at football practice… apparently I am not so zen on the field. I have found my calling playing defense and am quite the aggressive blocker. I leave my ladylike qualities on the sidelines and am suddenly ready to rumble! I guess you learn something new every day! Football Is Hard…

So I had my very first football practice ever yesterday afternoon and let me tell you… it was no walk in the park! Today I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. However, it’s kind of refreshing to feel this sore. It makes me feel like I did something really productive. Also, it helps knowing that I’m doing it for such a great cause. After I evaluated my extreme lack of skill yesterday I have decided that I am definitely going to have to do some practicing on my own so if anyone has any tips let me know! So far I have decided that I need to do the following things: pick up Football for Dummies, forget manicures for the next month, take water to the next practice, and start RUNNING! Geeeeez I was winded yesterday! I’ll keep you updated on my progress with the pigskin! Blondes vs Brunettes

For the third year in a row, the blondes of Houston will take on the brunettes to see who can raise the most money for the Alzheimers Foundation. How are we going to do this? We’re taking it outside with a friendly (or not-so-friendly) game of Powder Puff Football! I have pledged to raise $250 by game day which is Saturday May 31.
